SUMMER CONCERT SERIES CELEBRATES DOWNTOWN GASTONIA

The City of Gastonia proudly announces 2009’s Rock the Avenue, a free summer concert series on downtown’s Main Avenue.  The four concerts take place June 12, June 26^th, July 10^th and July 24^th with performances by The Tams, Coconut Groove, Liquid Pleasure and Black & Blue.

More than a concert series, Rock the Avenue features markets,  free dance lessons, concession vendors and a children’s carnival to promote the diversity and revitalization of Downtown Gastonia while creating a safe, fun environment for families to relax and enjoy the long summer nights. 

“Rock the Avenue celebrates Downtown Gastonia’s growing downtown historic, business, and residential district,” states Karamarie Gerbracht of Markovent, LLC, this year’s event manager.  “Beer and wine sales are offered by MSD businesses and sales from the food tent will serve as fundraising opportunities for local non-profit organizations. “

Local businesses Markovent, Freeman’s Pub, The Bottle Shop, Downtown Charlie’s and more, have joined with the City of Gastonia to provide financial, organization, in-kind donations of supplies, advertising, and event management.  Rock the Avenue is a truly community-driven effort that expects to attract more than 10,000 people to the summer concert series.
